As part of its celebration of the National Teachersā month, the University
of Santo Tomas (UST) attempted to enter the Guinness World Records
with the formation of the āLargest Human Sentenceā to honor teachers
on September 27, 2017 at the UST Athletic Field and Open Spaces.
The Guinness World Records attempt, through the initiative of the
UST College of Education Dean Dr. Allan B. de Guzman, Ph.D., gathered
17,011 students from all faculties and colleges of the University to form the
sentence āMy Teacher is My Hero!ā as a symbolic tribute to teachers from
all over the world.
USTās āMy Teacher is My Hero!ā human formation is expected to
break Indiaās record for the Largest Human Sentence in 2016 where 16,550
participants from the Rotary International District 3000, Rotary Club of
Perambalur New Gen, and Roever Group of Institutions in Perambalur, India
formed the sentence āYou can you willā in celebration of the International
Youth Day.
Established in 1955, the Guinness World of Records is the primary
authority for verifying and authenticating attempts at World Records.
Guinness had previously recognized USTās entry in 2011 where 13,266
participants formed the worldās largest human cross, specifically, the
Dominican cross, as part of the Universityās quadricentennial celebration.
The National Teachersā Month with the theme āGurong Pilipino:
Kaakbay sa Progresoā for this year, is celebrated annually from September
5 to October 5. Presidential Proclamation no. 242 declares September 5 to
October 5 of every year as National Teachersā Month and Republic Act no.
10743, declares October 5 as the National Teacherās Day
